making it through another day…

Day five, minimal exercise today (walking) but done none the less. When I felt like sitting I got up and moved. When I felt like watching TV I cleaned boxes out of the garage for an hour. Last night was very stressful in our house and today I was feeling the remnant emotions of it all. I was sad today, kind of blah, and it was eye opening.

Breakfast today was steel cut oats with cinnamon apples (no sweetener today) but about an hour later I was still hungry. A friend took me out for a fancy coffee (splurge!) and gave me a gift of chocolate truffles (yum!), and then I had leftover beef enchilada casserole for lunch. I love sour cream, but I cut it with non-fat milk because I don’t like non fat sour cream. other than my fancy drink I didn’t eat a lot and I am FULL! I still have dinner to eat but fortunately I don’t have to have a big meal. I am eating when hungry.

The interesting thing is that today I saw with wide open eyes the emotional eating I WANTED to do, but I refrained. Instead I had a glass of water and wrote an emotionally cleansing email to my cousin, the one person who I know for sure will sympathize, laugh with me, cry with me, and best of all, agree with me. As I was blog-cruising today I came across the Eat Without Guilt blog. And as a firm believer of things falling into our laps when we need them, it was fun to read. Reinforcement, explanation, research, education, support, it’s all part of our journey. And so far the truffles remain unopened!

How do you handle your triggers?

What did I eat yesterday?
B: granola and cheerios (I like them mixed), low fat milk
L: orange, 2 chicken soft tacos on homemade flour tortillas with a little rice, sour cream, and salsa
S: single homemade waffle square, small handfull of peanuts
D: homemade chicken Thai lettuce wraps, all natural ingredients, no sugar, no added fat, lots of lettuce, carrots, asparagus, and lentils
